Since my last post, I’ve been fantasizing about Tucson creating a new holiday. All Souls is rocking, Yaqui Easter is a gift, now let’s create a new one for winter. Of course, as soon as I thought of it, I went to the Beyond events on January 7 and realized it’s already starting to happen. (I think that’s just one more sign of a tight community – when one person has an idea, a hundred others have already set it in motion. When humanity is ready for some step forward, it will bubble to the surface of the collective consciousness in several places.) I envision this holiday as lasting about a month, and including a daily ritual of focused commitment to shining light into the darkness. (I have heard that if a person does something for 21 days in a row, that practice becomes hard-wired in his/her consciousness.) This commitment could manifest as self-reflection, community service, creative works, acts of spontaneous compassion, or whatever each of us feels called to do, to honor those lost in violence by transforming our town and our world into the loving, peaceful place we know it can be. What do YOU think, feel, envision? How would you like to rewire your patterns of reflection, imagination, action?

Mitzi,
You may not remember me, but we were at Cragin Elementary together, and maybe Catalina(?). My mom forwarded your music video to me as something that needed to be shared broadly, and I realized that someone I knew from long ago was the creative energy behind it. How wonderful. I am in touch with Diana Lucz and sent her the link, so you may hear from her, as well.
My family (parents, sisters, husband and two sons) really appreciate your song and all the visuals that express, I think, the way most of us feel about living in Tucson.
Thank you!
Lisa
